Realix IO Pod

The IO Pod is a versatile module within the Realix ERC system, designed to handle input and output (I/O) functions in an escape room. It allows to integrate buttons, switches, sensors, and indicator lights. It is connected to the Realix SBUS and is auto-discoverable.

Functionality

  • Provides 8 I/O ports that can be configured for different purposes.
    • 6 ports can be configured as either digital inputs or outputs.
    • 2 ports can be configured as either digital inputs or analog inputs (sensors). These ports additionally have a special connector for easily connecting sensors from the Gravity series by DFRobot.

The digital inputs do not accept direct voltage; they are designed to be either open (not active) or connected to ground (active). The analog input, available on the special 3-pin connector, can handle voltages up to 5V, allowing seamless connection of Gravity sensors.

When set as outputs, each port is 5V in the active state and supports a maximum current of 15 mA.

Configuring a port as output, input or sensor is done in the Designer.

Gravity Sensors and IO Pod Integration

The Gravity sensor series from DFRobot is a collection of modular sensors which can be very interesting in escape rooms. These sensors are available in both digital and analog variants, covering a wide range of functionalities, including motion detection, environmental monitoring, and proximity sensing.

Example: Analog Sensor of DFRobot

By adopting the Gravity sensor standard, our IO Pod ensures compatibility, making it easy to expand functionality with a wide variety of sensors without additional wiring complexity.
