EULA

Effective Date: 30 November 2025

1) Parties & scope

This EULA is between Realix V.O.F. and the Customer and governs installation/use of Realix ERC Server, ERC Designer, ERC GameHost and ERC MediaBox (together the “Software”).

The Software can operate in one of three Project Types:

  1. Realix Native
Projects that use native Realix game logic, including all puzzle logic, device types, effect sequences, locks, and triggers. (referred to in this EULA as “Realix Native”).
  2. MQTT Unlimited
Projects that access all available device types, effect sequences, locks, and triggers over MQTT. Native Realix game logic is disabled. (referred to in this EULA as “MQTT Unlimited”)
  3. MQTT Limited
Projects that interface exclusively with the SBUS Box and Pods over MQTT. No other device types, effects, or triggers are available. Native Realix game logic is disabled. (referred to in this EULA as “MQTT Limited”).

These Project Types determine whether a license is required, as described in Section 2.

Commercial/consumer terms (fees, renewals, warranties/liability) are in the Terms of Service.

2) License grant — one room per license

Subject to an active subscription and compliance with this EULA and the TOS, Realix grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run one ERC Server instance controlling one escape room per license. A separate license is required for each additional room/server.

A valid license is required for Realix Native and MQTT Unlimited projects. MQTT Limited projects do not require a license.

3) Activation, certificates & offline operation

  • To run the game logic, the Server must be activated with a valid subscription.
  • Activate using an activation key via ERC Designer connected to the target ERC Server.
  • On activation, the Server receives a time-limited certificate (typically 14 days).
  • When online and your subscription is active, the certificate auto-extends.
  • If the certificate expires or no valid subscription exists, Realix Native and MQTT Unlimited projects cannot run until the Server is reactivated.

4) Hardware fingerprint & transfers

Each license is bound to a hardware fingerprint of the activated Server.

  • Re-using a previously activated Server may require Realix support intervention to prevent abuse and maintain license integrity.
  • You may transfer a license to a different Server.

5) Output format restrictions

Output files generated by ERC Designer are in a proprietary format owned by Realix.

  • They may not be reverse-engineered, converted, or used with third-party software.
  • Such files may be used only with Realix software.

6) Prohibited actions

Do not bypass activation/certificate checks, share keys, run more than one room per license, or reverse-engineer beyond what mandatory law permits.

7) Updates & third-party components

Realix may provide updates/patches. The Software may include third-party/open-source components under their licenses (see documentation).

8) Telemetry limited to license verification

The Software may transmit minimal data needed for license verification, including:

  • Hashed hardware fingerprint
  • License key
  • Certificate timestamps
  • Product/version

No customer game content or puzzle logic is transmitted. See our Privacy Policy for details.

9) Ownership

The Software is licensed, not sold. Realix retains all rights not expressly granted.

10) No warranties; liability (global)

The Software is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.”

  • Business use control: If the Software is used in connection with a trade, business, craft, or profession, the Business Customer terms in the TOS apply to that use, regardless of who purchased the license.
  • All disclaimers and limitations in the Terms of Service apply to this EULA, subject to non-excludable consumer rights in your jurisdiction.

11) Termination

This EULA terminates automatically if the subscription lapses or upon material breach. Upon termination or expiry, Realix Native and MQTT Unlimited projects cannot run until the Server is reactivated. All other functions remain available.

12) Governing law; precedence

Governing law, venue, and consumer protections are as set out in the Terms of Service.

If there is a conflict:

  • This EULA controls license scope, activation, and behavior when unlicensed.
  • The TOS controls commercial and consumer terms and liability.
