Realix ERC Overview

Discover in this Realix ERC escape room control system overview how our software and hardware work together to automate your escape room.

The Realix ERC (Escape Room Controller) provides an easy-to-use platform for escape room automation. At its core is the Realix Server, an application that centrally manages all puzzle logic and game flow.

Realix Boxes communicate the state of digital and analog sensors to the server, where the puzzle logic processes the data, makes decisions, and triggers effect sequences—timed actions such as lighting changes or unlocking doors.

The following diagram shows the main components that make up the ERC system.

Escape Room Control System Overview

All devices can easily connect over TCP/UDP, eliminating the need for USB drivers or other ports. Applications and devices can be categorized based on their function and interface as follows:

  • Realix boxes are used for basic I/O, sensors, driving locks (without relays), and other DC devices, as well as DMX. The DMX support enables a wide range of lighting options, including moving heads, relay boards, and motor drivers.
  • Philips HUE can be used for lighting, with scene control directly accessible from the ERC.
  • External services are available for media players and custom solutions.
  • The Designer is a powerful tool for setting up your room without programming. But, for those who prefer, scripting is also included to make puzzles more interactive.
  • For the game host, there is the Game Host application for use in the control room and a Prepper Web App to prepare the room using just a phone or tablet.
